Wear your watch as often as possible.
This may seem too easy to be true, but it is what sets your Rustic-Tac wooden watch apart from all other watches. Your skin simply transfer its natural oil to your watch, and this, in turn, has the positive effects of:
- maintaining the moisture content of the wood,
- increasing the resistance of the wood to the shocks and jolts of everyday life,
- creating a protective oil coating (a bit like a varnish),
- enhancing the natural color of the wood and bringing out its subtleties.
Beware of Water
Rustic-Tac wooden watches are splash-proof and can be worn in light rain. There is also no need to remove your watch when you wash your hands.
However, wearing your watch in the shower or while swimming is not recommended. Even though many models have a Water Resistant or 3ATM rating, they should not be submerged in water. The mechanical parts are protected but the wood tends to expand when it comes in contact with water.
Light Cleaning and Oil Application as Needed
If you wear your watch infrequently (less than once or twice a month), we recommend a quick cleaning with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
In addition, twice a year, apply a very small amount of linseed oil, lemon oil or a very light coat of beeswax to keep the wood well hydrated and to prevent it from drying and cracking. With a soft, clean cloth, simply work your chosen solution into all the wooden parts of your watch.
