WHAT MAINTENANCE IS
NECESSARY FOR MY WOOD WATCH?

BY FOLLOWING THESE SIMPLE TIPS, YOU GUARANTEE A LONG AND BEAUTIFUL LIFE FOR YOUR RUSTIC-TAC WATCH

Wear your watch as often as possible

It may seem too easy to be true, but this is what distinguishes your Rustic-Tac wooden watch from all other watches. Your skin will simply transfer its body oil to your watch, which will have the positive effects of:

  • Maintain the hydration of the wood
  • Increase the resistance of the wood to the shock of everyday life
  • Create a protective oil (a bit like a varnish)
  • Enhance the natural color of your wood and bring out its subtleties

Be careful with water

Rustic-Tac's wooden watches are considered splash-proof and can be worn without problems in light rain. There is no need to remove your watch to wash your hands.

However, it is not recommended to wear your watch in the shower or for swimming. The mechanisms can be protected, but the wood tends to expand when in contact with water.

Light washing and oiling as needed

If you wear your watch infrequently (less than once or twice a month), we recommend a quick cleaning with a soft, slightly damp cloth.

Afterwards, apply twice a year a linseed oil, lemon oil or a very light coat of beeswax to keep your wood well hydrated and prevent it from drying and cracking. A very small amount is needed, rub all wooden parts with a soft clean cloth.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE BATTERY OF MY WOODEN WATCH?

The procedure below applies to the majority of Rustic-Tac wooden watch models.

As soon as your watch stops or no longer keeps time, remove the defective battery as soon as possible as it may produce corrosive drips that can damage the mechanism.

However, if your watch is one of the following models: REBEL, ZEBRANO-H, ZEBRANO-F, ECLIPSE, HORIZON, SHERLOCK and some others with a screwed or clipped back, please go see your jeweler or you can make an appointment at our workshop in Sainte-Adele via the following link.

For other watches, follow these steps:

1. Remove the four (4) screws on the back of the wooden case using a small star screwdriver

2. Gently remove the plastic case that holds the mechanism in place

3. Remove the battery

4. Keep your old battery to make sure you choose the right model. The battery number is engraved on the top of the battery.

5. Put the new battery in place and do the steps in reverse order to put the parts back in place.

6. Put your watch back on time
